FJ Advisory Ltd is a professional services firm co-founded by Mike Falvey and Christopher Johnson. Although Mike and Chris first met about fifteen years ago and subsequently at business events, we first worked together in 2021 advising a client. During this period, we developed a common perspective about:
- Bringing value to clients through the application of our experiences and insights about what works and what doesn’t
- Increasing the capability and capacity of our clients to perform by being a critical friend who builds their confidence and explores stakeholder drivers and relationships in order to reduce “organisational friction”
- Adopting a style of collaborative independence that is empathetic and not afraid to ask the difficult question; reflective and warm; and, respects limits while always working to expand aspirations.
Applying experience, insight, critical friendship and collaborative independence to our clients’ opportunities and challenges is the value that seasoned professionals bring.

Meet our team
Mike Falvey and/or Christopher Johnson are always involved in FJ Advisory services to clients. We can draw in a network of highly accomplished and experienced professionals with senior corporate and/or consulting backgrounds who are motivated by the essence of FJ Advisory, delivering excellence and making a real difference for clients. As well as working with FJ Advisory our associates also lead their own consulting practices.
Mike Falvey advises senior executives and their teams across a range of organisations from large complex to start ups, in the public and private sectors. He focuses on workforce transformation, the future of work and workforce and reward strategy to ensure that clients’ ideas and challenges turn into delivery, enhanced performance and tangible outcomes.
Mike was a Lead Partner within KPMG’s People Practice – People Powered Performance, which advised clients in the UK and globally on workforce and HR solutions designed to address their key people and talent issues to drive business performance.
Prior to joining KPMG he was Corporate Services Director at Four Seasons Healthcare (owned by private equity – TerraFirma), which employed 34,000 people in over 500 locations. He was responsible for Human Resources, IT, Sales and Marketing, Strategy and Government relationships.
Mike was Chief People Officer and Director General Communications, Marketing and PR at HMRC, which employed 75,000 people. Earlier he was Director General Human Resources and Transformational Change at Department for Communities and Local Government.Mike also worked for SIRVA (owned by Private Equity – Clayton, Dubilier & Rice) in a number of roles including Vice President HR-EMEA/Asia Pacific, Managing Director SIRVA Relocation EMEA, including during the IPO, and Managing Director of Pickford Vanguard Industrial Engineering.
He has been Chair and Non-executive director of Moving Services Trustees Ltd (Pickfords’ Pension Scheme), a Nonexecutive director of the Towcester Educational Trust and a mentor to prisoners prior to their release.
Christopher Johnson advises senior executives and their teams typically with large, complex organisations in the public and private sectors. In the context of business transformations, restructurings, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures he advises in the areas of workforce and reward strategy, and how to shift from analysis and planning to concerted and effective action. He has worked with clients across Europe, Hong Kong, Middle East, South Africa, US and UK.
Chris was a senior partner at Mercer for twelve years where he held global and regional leadership roles in Mercer’s Career business. He worked with clients in the life sciences, financial services, engineering and public sectors. He also hosted premier and highly regarded networks of global reward and employee relations leaders from over one hundred leading European and US headquartered multi-national companies. His involvement with the global reward leaders’ network continues to the present day.
Prior to joining Mercer, he had nearly twenty years of consulting experience with leading HR consulting firms starting with Hay Management Consultants before moving to Kinsley Lord (a prestigious boutique based in London) and then through acquisition joining Towers Perrin based initially in London and then New York.
During the three years immediately before joining Mercer, Chris was the Director at the Cabinet Office responsible for reward and employee relations for the Civil Service and played a leading policy role in the area of public sector pay working closely with Ministers and other senior civil servants.
In his early career, Chris was a chartered civil engineer and national officer for a public sector trades union.
